GTV action suspended for ballot
Intensified industrial action at Granada TV has been suspended whilst a ballot is held on a revised pay offer.
The offer from Granada management, which BECTU is recommending members accept in the ballot, includes:
- A two-year pay offer of 3.6% in 1999, and a further increase of RPI plus 0.5% in January 2000.
- The formation of a union/management joint working party to examine scheduling and reward for Bank Holiday and weekend working.
If the offer is rejected, it is intended to restart industrial action on 2 August - this could result in the loss of the GTV programme Coronation Street within two weeks.
