Find out more about the programme and book online. The Fair is free for BECTU members; non-members pay £10. The event runs from 1000 to 1630.

The Atrium, home to the University of Glamorgan and the Skillset Screen Academy Wales, is the must-see venue for the event; visitors with access needs are invited to contact us for more details.

Make-up company MAC, whose artistes will be coming to the event straight from London Fashion Week, will be demonstrating their latest techniques at 1100; Principality FX will also treat visitors to a special effects display at 1345 covering both make-up and props.

From 1400, the BBC will deliver an HD camera demonstration using both costume and make-up to illustrate the requirements of the technology. BECTU is obliged to the BBC for their contribution to the event.

The Cardiff Fair has drawn support from a number of contributors. Not least amongst them is the Welsh Assembly Government which has provided funding for the workshops through the Wales Union Learning Fund.

Commenting on the prospects for the day, BECTU National Official for Wales, David Donovan, said: “The Cardiff event will make members more aware and better equipped to work successfully in today's industry.

“As part of our contribution to the programme itself, BECTU will be holding an open forum, plus Q&A, to explain how the union works to defend its members.”

A range of career development workshops and open sessions combine with an exhibition by key industry organisations including Skillset, Creative and Cultural Skills, the Welsh Film Commission and Cyfle Training.

Thompsons Solicitors, the Wales TUC and the Open University in Wales will also be on hand with their expert guidance.
