The current vacancy arose when one of the Division’s four representatives, elected to the NEC last March, was unable to take up the post.

LPD branches were invited to submit nominations and by the closing date of Friday 4 July 2008 there were three candidates validly nominated:

  • Tunji Akinsehinwa of the Camera Branch (nominated by the Lighting Technicians branch)
  • Tony De Rance of the Film Artistes Branch (nominated by the Film Artistes)
  • Arti Dillon of the Writers Producers & Directors Branch (also nominated by her Branch).

Members in the Division will receive candidates’ election addresses and a ballot paper from the independent scrutineer for the ballot, Electoral Reform Services; members will be entitled to cast one vote only.

Ballot papers have to be returned to ERS in the pre-paid envelope provided by Friday 8 August 2008. The successful candidate will be invited to take their seat on the NEC at its meeting on Sunday 17 August 2008.

Any LPD member who does not receive a ballot paper by Wednesday 23 July 2008 should contact BECTU’s membership department at Head Office on 020 7346 0900.
