Peggy Elvin dies, aged 98

Peggy Elvin, widow of ACTT’s first General Secretary George Elvin (1907-1984), passed away on Thursday 24 July, aged 98.

Peggy had taken an active interest in the union right up to her death, and attended the commemorative dinner at BECTU’s conference in Bournemouth in 2007, which celebrated the lives of several major union personalities.

The funeral is on Thursday 7 August, at 2.40pm at Southend Crematorium, Sutton Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex SS2 5PX. All friends are invited, but union friends are asked to contact Trevor King at BECTU’s head office ([email protected]) if they intend to be there.
