Head office phones: major fault

Landlines into BECTU’s head office will be down for several more days following confirmation from BT of a major fault.

In order to ease our communications during this difficult period, BT will be supplying six mobile phones today (30 July).

Three of these handsets will pick up calls, in sequence, made to the main switchboard number and will be answered by colleagues in our membership department.

If the call is not for the membership department, the caller’s number can be taken and the appropriate department will be asked to return the call. Alternatively, a temporary emergency number can be provided. That said, if the caller can use email to make contact this would be preferred.

The remaining phones will be shared amongst our secretarial colleagues to help with outgoing calls.

Emails can be sent to [email protected] (such emails are forwarded swiftly to the appropriate person) or alternatively specific email addresses can be found on BECTU’s website under Contact and then under Who’s Who.

We apologise again for the inconvenience caused by the current situation.

An update will be posted when the service is restored.
